AMG Wagons

Billy was taking a ride in his AMG wagon. The 2008 C63 model was fast, with turbocharged engines that put out a lot of horsepower. But styling of the 2010 C-Class models was debatable when comparing it to any of the E-class models. He didn't care which styling was nicer. He liked to take his friends for rides to show off the Penta wheels, the Recaro seats, and other chrome parts that were part of the AMG accessory kit. These upgrades didn't make it go faster, but they sure made it sleeker. He wished he could be driving a wagon back in the 60's, when everything seemed so much better. If he had a time machine, he'd take one of these expensive and high-performance Mercedes-Benz back to his high-school days. He closed his eyes and dreamed of owning a new Mercedes back when he was younger.

The year was 1967, and local Sonic was hoping and girls were skating from the food window to the cars, carrying trays of food. Loud engine headers made it difficult to hear when taking orders, but they were used to it. Fast and expensive sedans with little cargo room formed a constant stream through the drive. Kids yelled back and forth at each other, but none had what Billy had, the coolest station wagon on the road. A Bel Air Townsman was parked at the end of the row of speakers were kids placed their orders. An AMC ambassador pulled through. Then a new-fangled car that no one had ever seen before pulled in. It had the name Mercedes-Benz stuck to the back in Chrome-plated letters. This wagon was different, and unusually nice. The driver, Billy, seemed sure of himself. Daimler-Chrysler had not even been formed yet, and Mercedes engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Burgstall an der Murr were just in the processes of starting their race engine business that would lead to the production of the wagon he was now driving. But with his simple time machine, none of that mattered.

Billy pulled into a spot and ordered a hamburger and fries. Other students gathered around to check out the slick wheels and fine body styling of this E-Class wagon. The aftermarket alloy wheels and styling products made this car stand out in a class all by itself. The extra cargo space and room for luggage meant it could haul a lot of people. He flipped the back seat up so that some of his friends could pile in.

They saw a 1963 Studabaker Wagonaire with another carload of young people cruise in. That group began taunting them challenging them to a race. His companions didn't know that the engine of his AMG 63 was turbocharged. Out on the road, the handling of the car was superb, due to the suspension and rack and pinion steering. He'd seen the E55, M5, and RS6 vehicles, but he liked his better. It was faster and a much better looking auto.
